Diptic

Click on pic to take you to app

Get it while it's FREE! My friend had this app, and I loved the features of it - it creates a photo collage, with simplicity and ease. However, when I last looked at it, it was $.99 or $1.99 - I hate paying for apps that I feel should be free, so I hesitated to buy it right away since I already have a collage app (review to come!). However, now that I have it, I would pay the couple of bucks now that I know what this app can do - it's worth it!

Here's a sample of what Diptic does. . . (see, cool, right?)
Layout - This is the beginning - swipe through the pages to find a layout for your pics (there's four pages).

Select - Once you choose a layout, select where you want to place your photos by just tapping where you want to place them (yes, those are my pics). You can also move your pic in the frame or enlarge it - but you can only shrink to fit the frame.

Transform
- Tap here to flip your image or rotate it.

Add Effects - Tap on "Effects", then tap on a specific pic to change the brightness, contrast, and vividness of it. I love that you can change each individual pic in this app!

While in Effects, tap on Border, and you can change the size/width of the border, and the color. You don't have to do just black or white - pick any color of the rainbow!

Export -  Once you're done altering, tap on Export. Then save your project either To Photos (on the left) or To Email (on the right). I like how if you're working on a project, and you forget to save it, and exit out of the app, when you go back, it's still waiting for you to finish - it doesn't erase all the work you've already done.

This app is so simple, yet produces beautiful results. . . it really is limitless to what you can do - based off of creativity. This is definitely one of my top 5 apps on my iPhone right now.

If you've used this app, let me know what you've done. I'd love to see your projects!

iPhone Apps

I've loved my iPhone and haven't looked back since getting the O.G. one back in 2007. Since then, I have had 5 or 6 - every model, which included waiting 16+ hours opening day for the latest one. With the 5 mp camera, it's now *almost* perfect. I can take pics big enough to blow up and print out - it's an O.G. status digital camera.

I remember taking photography classes back in college, and digital photography just wasn't an option! I couldn't imagine that digital photography would completely change the way we take and process photographs.

$.99 on iTunes
Now, with the thousands of Apps out there, I can manipulate, enhance and intensify my photos all on my phone! One of my all-time favs is Pictureshow.  It allows me to change the exposure, add scratches/"emulsion"/light over my image, change brightness, and fix the coloring and contrast with ease. One thing that would make this app perfect would be if you could "swipe" on the scratches and/or light. But it has been well worth my $.99!

My only dilema now is . . . finding enough picures to manipulate with my apps!

Where do I get my inspriation from?

I've loved photography since I picked up my dad's old SLR Nikon - I loved changing the lenses, and seeing what images I could capture on film. Back then, there wasn't digital, we didn't have a computer, and it was all old school REAL film status. It would take several days for photographs to get back, and I was always giddy to see what images I had taken, and if they'd turned out.

Fast forward twenty years or so, and I have a digital camera and my iPhone's camera by my side at all times - if not literally in my hand. Before I could take up to 36 pictures before I had to change the film - now I can take thousands before I need to upload and delete images. I take for granted the luxury of shooting an object over and over until I get it "just right".

In college, I took almost all the photography classes that my local college had to offer - I loved the creativity, the freedom to explore what talents I may - or may not have. Unfortunately, I passed up the opportunity to major in photography, but still have love for capturing images on film. . . er, digitally. Inspired by a trip to Solvang, and seeing photographer Michael Mendizza's images (Z Folio Gallery) - His Tempation left me breathless, and with a new found love of capturing beauty in nature. My images are meant to be focal pieces, viewed over canvas, and in large format - 20 x 36 and larger.

I encourage you to view my gallery at Ayami.ifp3.com and see if anything catches your eye. If not, maybe you can be my next inspiration!

Thanks! <3 Ayami
